2007 IA STATE FAIR

Last Saturday, I took Miss Elise on her first trip to the IA State Fair. We started bright and early by watching Miss Jess in the heifer show. Then we proceeded to the horse barn, saw the model train display (Chet would have loved that display). After the trains we went down the giant slide, Miss Elise said as we were climbing the steps "Mommy, we are up really high". She wasn't scared one bit!

After the slide we hit the Varied Industries building for an ISU tatoo and to meet Curious George. Then it was off to find our next adventure. Little did I know as we headed down the Grand Concourse, Elise and I would be "stars" and be on live TV! Yes, we were on the NBC local channel weather report and could have been seen "clogging" with the local weekend weather gal who used to clog!

A nice couple took our picture at the State Fair Ribbon face display. Then we rode the sky glider to the animal barn, petted kittens, then waited for the big tractor to take us back down the hill. At the bottom we entered the Ag building to see the butter cow and butter Harry Potter. A quick stop for strawberry ice cream and we were off to the livestock pavilion once again. On the way out of the livestock building Miss Elise ate her 1st State Fair Corn Dog and shared my dairy barn chocolate shake.

We stopped in to say goodbye to Miss Jess and we'd be back to pick her up later as she was spending the night in our new house. Elise wanted to see the piggies so we went to the swine barn then headed home.

It was a fun day and we packed alot into our morning at the fair.
