What next?

I consider us to be fairly lucky in the fact that overall Miss Elise is a pretty healthy little girl despite her eye trouble & UTI's. We've now added ear trouble to her list of specialists after a hearing test revealed a hearing loss which found us scheduling her to get tubes in her ears for March 20th (tomorrow).

What should have been a routine pre-op appointment on Tuesday turned into anything BUT routine. We are now off to see a pediatric cardiologist next Friday and the tube surgery has been rescheduled until we see the cardiologist. The ARNP discovered a heart murmur in little Miss. She doesn't think it's anything to be concerned about but is enough that they won't do surgery until it's checked out. Better safe than sorry but for me it's just down right frustrating! I mean seriously...what next? It's bad enough she's had to endure all she's had to before age 5 related to her eyes and UTIs but now this...UGH!!! And try explaining to a 5-yr. old whose already not keen on the idea of "being put to sleep" and having mini-"straws" put in her ears that it's on hold and she's got to see another doctor who'll likely do more tests on her.

Again, could be MUCH worse and we are very fortunately her troubles are treatable and fairly minor however just sometimes doesn't seem fair but then again life isn't always fair. So for now we'll count our blessings that she's healthy, happy and a trooper and go about our business until next Friday when hopefully we're cleared for surgery and the murmur is nothing to be concerned about. I too have a murmur that isn't always detected and look at me, I'm as fine as can be (although some might disagree...ha)!
